On September, 28-29th in Teheran (Iran) has taken place the 2-nd international conference on furniture, trade and design. Representatives of many countries of the Europe and Asia have taken part in conference, including Italy, Russia (vice-director of Association Mr. Makeev), Ukraine, the Netherlands, Turkey, Malaysia, South Korea, and etc.

The furniture industry of Iran is a conglomerate of old and new. A plenty of the handicraft enterprises applying in basic manual skills. On the other hand, the new modern enterprises are under construction. Total amount of the furniture enterprises is more than 11 000. In industry is occupied more than 120 000 workers.

Unfortunately, statistical data about manufacture of furniture in the country are not present. As well as about volumes of internal sales. The state statistics reflects only total amounts of import (170 million US dollar) and export (7 million US dollar) of furniture. The basic countries importers are Italy, China, Turkey, Malaysia.

In the market is present as furniture from a file of wood, and from wooden plates. Basically from MDF and chipboards. Thus, the Iranian industry satisfies its own needs for wood plates only on 20 %.

It is necessary to note, that we shall feel huge interest of financial and state circles of Iran in development of the furniture industry, to cooperation with furniture producers from other countries. Near to Teheran, at support of the state construction of furniture is planned. Programs « the minimal habitation » that will essentially increase consumption of furniture in sector of an economy class are developed and realized. The Iranian furniture association together with a society of consumers forms a rating of manufacturers of furniture, with the purpose to protect the market from unfair suppliers. All this creates preconditions both for Russian furniture and wooden plates enterprises for export of production on the Iranian market. From its part, the Iranian party is ready to accept delegation Russian colleges and to organize the expanded negotiations directly between representatives of furniture business of Russia and Iran.
